Recording Studios Home computer must include a reasonably powerful computer (with at least 1GB of RAM), an audio interface, and a program for digital audio work. If you want to record any acoustic instruments or voices, need microphones. For those interested in the use of synthesizers, samplers, loops, and boxes I commend the rhythm of Reason software. Also, of course, need some sort of system to recover to play their music. You really should have the two speakers and headphones (listening to your music in both directions to make sure they have a good mix.)
What kind of equipment should you get? Well, if you already have a team that is happy with then you can probably use it already has. But you should make sure you have at least 1 GB of RAM. And in all likelihood, you will want more than that. I recommend at least 2GB. Its software recording and mixing works much better with more RAM.
Should you get a Mac or PC? In my view, either option is good. Most people make too big a deal out of this. Some programs work better with one or the other, while others programs only work with one or the other. So if you have an insurance program that you really want to use, make sure it is compatible with your computer.
What kind of audio interface you get depends on two things: Your needs and your budget. If you only plan on recording yourself then you need not more than two entries (at most.) Unless, of course, you have a live drummer (good for recording drums with lots of entries for the different microphones.) But there's more to consider than how many inputs you get with your interface, you must also consider the quality of sound. The more expensive models also tend to have better sound quality. Get what you can afford.
There are plenty of options as far as the workstation digital audio (DAW) software. There Pro Tools (which works with Digidesign audio interfaces.) There Cubase. There Nuendo. No logic. And some others too. What is right for you? Good first you should know that some of these programs only work with PC SONAR (Cakewalk and Sony Acid) or Mac (Logic and Digital Performer). headers that I think all are quite similar actually. The important thing is that you feel more comfortable. You can download free demo versions to see which fits you best. There are some general tips on digital audio workstations that can give you: Sony Acid tends to be a good choice for those making loop based music (like hip hop and techno.) Cubase is a good choice for people on PCs or Macs. Pro Tools is a good option for those using a Mac, but is probably not the best option for those using Windows. It tends run better on Macs and in fact is not as complete as Cubase.
In regard to the microphones that you want to buy a condenser microphone for recording vocals and acoustic instruments. With microphones usually get what you pay. , Improved clarity comes from more microphones (and mic preamps, but better than doing a bit complicated for this article.) better microphones cost more money. Dynamic microphones are good for recording drums and amplifiers. I would say they are less essential unless you have a drum set. If you have some good guitar effect plugins (like the waves of GTR 3), then probably be able to get a good sound to connect your electric guitar (or bass) directly into your audio interface.
Reason is the best all in one solution for those who want a drum machine, a sampler, synthesizer, and / or a program loop. It is high quality software that I can not recommend higher. If you can afford it and are interested in any kind of "synthesis" elements in their music, then it should be.
