To Robert: Have you ever used this product before? works well ?.... therefore only be of prime necessity to existing drywall and cover with more drywall? The birds are strong and I would block out noise as much as possible, but with a low budget:)
I'm not sure if we're talking about removing plaster to expose the definition or not. If so, then go with rock wool insulation. It is a great product for the attenuation of sound. Treatment the existing wall does not mean you have to boot what already exists. You may choose to simply adding layers of sound control block for DB-existing surface. The material is made of mass loaded vinyl that measures just 1 / 8 "thick, but weighs over 150 kilos per roll of 54" x 30 '.
